Our on-snow activities cover a wide range of skiing activities and locations. In a normal season, we run activities at several ski areas, both in Victoria and NSW. Our members skiing interests span a wide range of activities including day skiing, backcountry, snow camping, racing and Telemarking.
What is this event about?
The Kangaroo Hoppet is Australia's largest and best known cross country ski race, held at Falls Creek on the fourth Saturday of August. The Kangaroo Hoppet is a citizen race, which means anyone can enter. It consists of three separate events - 42km, 21km and 7km. To coincide with the Kangaroo Hoppet, we have booked accommodation at Howmans Gap Alpine Centre, located just before the entrance to Falls Creek Resort. (You will need to purchase entry into Falls Creek Resort online before arriving).

What activities happen?
Of course, the main activity for this weekend is racing in the Kangaroo Hoppet. Some members also volunteer to work on the drink stations set up for the race participants. Many of the Falls Creek trails are cordoned off for the race on Saturday, so general tours of the cross country trails is limited.
How do I get there?
This year (2023) we are staying at Howmans Gap Alpine Centre located on the left just before the Falls Creek Resort Entrance. To get there you drive to Mt Beauty and then follow the signs to Falls Creek. Check in 3PM and check out 10 AM. You need to carry wheel chains and a snow shovel in your car.
What is provided?
Breakfast and Dinner is provided. You will need to organise your own lunch. There are guest fridges, a microwave, tea, coffee and milk available in the main Dining room. Friday dinner is served at 6pm. Please advise if you will arrive in time for dinner and if you have any special dietary needs.
You will need to bring own bedding (single mattress sheet, pillow case, Doona / Sleep bag) ,towel and ear plugs. Linen and bedding is available from the office for a fee.
